HURFOM is a non-profit organization and all its members are volunteers who strive for the same aim. By accepting the main aim, HURFOM seeks to participate in the struggle for the establishment of a democratic Burma doing its part as a local ethnic human rights group, which is monitoring the human rights situation in Mon territory and other areas southern part of Burma. HURFOM provide information and reports to various campaign organizations to seek help from the international community for democratic reform in Burma.

 

HURFOM has six main ongoing projects:

Human Rights Documentation and Dissemination Project 
HURFOM human rights field workers collect information on human rights violations in both urban and rural areas in Mon State, Karen State and Tenasserim Division.

Human Rights Data Management and Advocacy Project 
HURFOM conducts systematic data management for its advocacy activities.

Woman and Child Rights Project 
Aims to monitor the woman and child rights situation in Mon areas, by collecting information about their situation with reference to the CEDAW and CRC Conventions, by providing information about their rights and encouraging them to participate in the protection of their own rights.

Human Rights and Civic Education Project 
Aims to educate the Mon communities about human rights and democratic concepts.

Human Rights Defending and Community Participation Project 
Aims to strengthen the community participation and coordination in defending itself against human rights violations, by studying the SPDC´s existing regulations, legal system, laws and orders.

Civil Society Development Project 
Aims to build the capacities of Mon civil society organizations, and create network among the different communities and civil society groups.

Mon Media Project 
Aims to monitor the woman and child rights situation in Mon areas, by collecting information about their situation with reference to the CEDAW and CRC Conventions, by providing information about their rights and encouraging them to participate in the protection of their own rights.
